Vegan Shares will receive Roasted Garlic Hummus from Greek Gourmet, Popcorn from Tuscarora Organics Cooperative* and Jumbo Sweet Potatoes from Clarion River Organics*.


Shallots

Grower: Gid’s Produce

Store: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place in a paper bag, tote, or basket.

Rutabagas

Grower: Tuscarora Organics Cooperative

Store:Store in crisper drawer in plastic bag.

Recipe: Root Veggie Gratin | Roasted Rutabaga with Maple Syrup & Thyme | Mashed Not-Potatoes

Baby Turnips

Grower: Tuscarora Organics Cooperative

Store: Store in a crisper drawer. 

Recipe: Quick Pickle Turnips (since these are baby turnips, no need to chop!) | Roasted with Parsley-Mustard Vinaigrette | Sweet & Sour Baby Turnips

*Members will receive baby purple top, baby gold ball, baby gil feather, baby scarlet, or baby white turnips.

Chopped Tomatoes

Grower: Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance

Store: Easy! Store in your pantry & refrigerate upon opening.

Recipe: Tomato Curry Sauce | Cream of Tomato Soup w/ Grilled Cheese | Root Vegetable & Tomato Stew (from our very own Pittsburgh-based blogger, Quelcy!)

Hydroponic Lettuce

Grower: Harmony Grove Farm

Store: Store in crisper drawer. If you wash the greens be sure to pat them dry before putting back into the fridge.

Recipe: One of our winter favorites is an incredibly simply, warm salad: chop lettuce, drizzle with a generous amount of lemon/lime juice & salt, and mix with scrambled eggs. It is so good. | 10 Ways to Enjoy Lettuce (that aren’t a salad)

Rosie Asian Greens

Grower: Harmony Grove Farm

Store: Store in crisper drawer in refrigerator. If you wash the greens be sure to pat them dry before putting back into the fridge.

Red Potatoes

Store: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place in a paper bag, tote, or basket.

Watermelon Radishes

Grower: Clarion River Organics

Store: Store in a crisper drawer.

Recipe: Three-Ingredient Quick Pickled Watermelon Radish (糖醋红心萝卜) | Roasted with Herb Tahini Sauce | Roasted with Lemon & Parsley

Pastured Eggs

Grower: Jarosinski Farms

Store: Since these are washed, you’ll want to store in the fridge.

Garlic

Grower: Blue Goose Farm

Store: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place in a paper bag, tote, or basket.

Rome Apples

Grower: Kistaco Farm

Store: Store in crisper drawer in plastic bag, or cover with damp paper towels.

Japanese Knotweed Honey

Grower: Bedillion Honey Farm

Store: Pantry.

Recipe:  Sunken Apple & Honey Cake
This honey is good paired with coffee or tea, drizzled on fresh fruit, nuts, cheese, or apples!  Also great in a vinaigrette or used to roast vegetables.
