Apple Cider

Grower: Kistaco Farm

Store: Store apple cider in refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Hydroponic Lettuce

Grower: Harmony Grove Farm

Store: Leave the heads intact and unwashed until you use them. Then, place them in the crisper drawer in your fridge with some paper towels. They’ll absorb any excess moisture, so your lettuce doesn’t spoil prematurely. Lettuce bruises easily, so be careful not to shove other foods up against it. Using a storage container is better than a bag, which can end up squished against other items.

Basil Microgreens

Grower: Crighton Farm

Store:Keep microgreens between damp paper towels, and make sure they are cold and covered in a resealable bag or container. Wrapped this way, they’ll last in the fridge for about a week

Recipe: Mini Strawberry Chocolate Tart with Whipped Goat Cheese and Basil Microgreens

Pac Choi

Grower: Riverbend Acres

Store: Store your pac choi in the crisper drawer of your refrigerator — unwashed and in a perforated plastic bag. When you do use it, remember that its cluster of stalks hides dirt, so wash it well.

Recipe: Sesame Pac Choi, Pac Choi with Cashews

Garlic Scallions

Grower: Riverbend Acres

Store:Wrap the ends of your garlic scallions in a slightly damp paper   towel. Then place them inside a plastic bag or storage container. Re- moisten the paper towel if it dries out; replace it if it becomes too wet.

Recipe: Roasted Lemon & Garlic Scallion Herb Pesto

Swiss Chard

Grower: Blue Goose Farm

Store: Do not wash Swiss chard before storing as the exposure to water encourages spoilage. Place chard in a plastic storage bag and wrap the bag tightly around the chard, squeezing out as much of the air from the bag as possible. Place in refrigerator where it will keep fresh for up to 5 days.

Recipes: Bucatini with Swiss Chard and Garlicky Breadcrumbs

Lettuce Mix

Grower: Kistaco Farm/ Crighton Farm

Store: Put your lettuce into a nice big bowl, and drape a paper towel or two over the top so moisture doesn’t settle on the leaves while your salad sits in the fridge. Cover the whole thing with a really tight seal of plastic wrap, and store.

Collards

Grower: Clarion River Organics

Store: Do not wash collard greens before storing as the exposure to water encourages spoilage. Place collard greens in a plastic storage bag and wrap the bag tightly around the greens, squeezing out as much of the air from the bag as possible. Place in refrigerator where it will keep fresh for up to 5 days.

Recipe: “Creamed” Collard Greens with Peanut Butter and Chile, Collard Green Chips, Collards & Portabello Grilled Cheese
